NEW PRESS RELEASE

Press Release:

People often say "I got my license, now what?" The answer is the "2006 ARRL Southwestern Division Convention" where Hams can learn about many aspects of Amateur Radio from Hams with diverse and experienced backgrounds, who will be presenting forums on the latest info in their various areas of expertise". Convention web site address is http://www.sandarc-conv2006.org/

The theme of our convention is disaster preparedness and this year's convention offers a wealth of information through the following experienced Hams: The banquet speaker is Gordon West; the luncheon speaker is Bob Heil; there are over 40 other speakers who will present one hour forums at the convention. There is a wide range of topics and experience ranging from Monica Zech on CERT; Roxanne Provznik from CDF; Joe Madas on emergency communications; Malcolm Levy on PSK-31;Terry Baxter on 50 MHZ Dxing; Hank Wayne on antenna vehicle installation; Howard White on Winlink; April Moel on Hospital Communications; Rick Aldom on a new ARES web system; and many more. These experienced Hams will be sharing some of the latest up to date info in their various specialty areas and all speaker forums at the convention are free with your paid admission. We are still in the pre-registration phase so the price is right! Of course, tickets will also be sold at the door. Everyone is invited to attend the convention, including non-Hams, visitors, family, friends, and walk ins. Come and see what Amateur Radio is all about. For anyone who has ever thought "What is Amateur Radio all about?" or said "I've got my license, now what?” come join us at the convention and see first hand what Amateur Radio is all about and what it does for our community.
